Given the era (1914) and the circumstances of the events (war time), this will, in all likelihood, be an all-male cast. The story is told through song (a cappella) and the reading of letters to home. PCT is looking for 12 to 15 males, ages 16 and older, with strong voices and the willing to learn and perform these beautiful, but challenging, songs. As there are numerous countries represented, dialects will be part of the storytelling. Auditions will be at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium on Nov.1 and Nov. 2. Check-in will begin at 6:30 p.m. and auditions will start at 7 p.m. Audition packets which include several pieces from the show are available. This time was even harder, but not because of a lack of talent on the stage! Each performer who auditioned brought their energy and passion to the moves, song, and cold read. It was thrilling to be able to make music again on the stage with others! Thank you to all who auditioned. You made a part of my soul become more healed — "I'm Alive!" — MJ Harper, Director Dear PCT Friends,
We’ve been wrestling with what to do about our 2020 season — a season we had looked forward to with great enthusiasm for the diversity we believed it would offer performers, crews, and our audiences. As you know, the landscape of our world has changed weekly, and sometimes daily, during the pandemic, and we were reluctant to make a final decision too soon. The safety of the many lives we impact, from those on stage, to those working behind the scenes, to the audiences who attend our shows, is a priority. Taking into consideration that our home, Memorial Auditorium, will be closed through the end of July, and that even then, health officials cautioned it might be too soon for large gatherings of people, we are canceling our entire 2020 season. We’re also canceling our annual Jr. Starz Children’s Theatre Workshop, which was planned for June — perhaps one of our greatest disappointments, as we know how much area youth look forward to it and gain from it. We are grateful for the financial contributions made by our members and underwriters this season. In coming days, we will be contacting each of you. We hope to remain as connected as ever through social media with features such as Throwback Thursdays that showcase past productions, as well as links to online entertainment to enjoy this summer. As always, we appreciate your support and enthusiasm for live theatre! We’ll keep our sights set on 2021 with the hope that once again, the curtain will go up and the magic will happen on our stage. — PCT Board of Directors Pittsburg Community Theatre will make a decision on May 11 regarding the future of its season. Those decisions will include the spring musical, Xanadu, originally planned for April 2-5; Jr. Starz children's summer theater workshop, originally planned for June; and auditions for the summer musical, Matilda, originally planned for May 18-19 with performance dates of July 23-26.
Dear Patrons,
This is typically when we open registrations for our popular summertime children’s theater workshop, Jr. Starz, which is held each June at Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center. In compliance with the statewide and countywide stay-at-home order, Memorial Auditorium continues to be closed to the public and will be for at least the next few weeks. Because the future is so uncertain, we are postponing registration for this summer's Jr. Starz workshop, "BOTS! A New Children's Musical" by Beat by Beat, until our board meets to make a decision on when registration shall open and when the workshop shall be held. Sadly, we aren’t alone; as you’ve no doubt begun to see, many organizations large and small have postponed, canceled, or rescheduled summertime events. Please continue to follow us on social media and check our website at www.pctinfo.org for the most current information. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we make decisions to ensure the health and safety of our audiences, cast, crew, and staff and in this case, children. Thanks for your support of the arts! |
