PCT cancels 2020 season

Dear PCT Friends,

We’ve been wrestling with what to do about our 2020 season — a season we had looked forward to with great enthusiasm for the diversity we believed it would offer performers, crews, and our audiences.

As you know, the landscape of our world has changed weekly, and sometimes daily, during the pandemic, and we were reluctant to make a final decision too soon.

The safety of the many lives we impact, from those on stage, to those working behind the scenes, to the audiences who attend our shows, is a priority. 

Taking into consideration that our home, Memorial Auditorium, will be closed through the end of July, and that even then, health officials cautioned it might be too soon for large gatherings of people, we are canceling our entire 2020 season. We’re also canceling our annual Jr. Starz Children’s Theatre Workshop, which was planned for June — perhaps one of our greatest disappointments, as we know how much area youth look forward to it and  gain from it.

We are grateful for the financial contributions made by our members and underwriters this season. In coming days, we will be contacting each of you. We hope to remain as connected as ever through social media with features such as Throwback Thursdays that showcase past productions, as well as links to online entertainment to enjoy this summer.

As always, we appreciate your support and enthusiasm for live theatre! We’ll keep our sights set on 2021 with the hope that once again, the curtain will go up and the magic will happen on our stage.
