PCT Backstage

A look back

Now that we've wrapped "Junie B.," we've completed strike, the exhaustion has worn off, and the adrenaline has waned, we'd like to focus for just a moment and thank the many individuals, businesses, media outlets, and schools that helped make our first production of the year a smashing success. All told, we performed it for more than 4,500 audience members!

We couldn't do what we do each season without the financial support of our corporate sponsors. Those include: Memorial Auditorium, Elias Tawil MD FACS, Miller's Professional Imaging and Mpix, The Coleman Family Foundation, Inc, the Family of Jo Swigart, and KOAM-Fox 14. We'd also like to thank our annual individual donors, of which there are many, and those who played a significant role with this show specifically, including: The Morning Sun, The Joplin Globe, Andra Stefanoni, Pittsburg High School, Jenna Spencer, Janice Jewett/Pitt State HPER Department, Pittsburg State University Dance Showcase, Y Academy of Dance, Terri Steele, and Pitt Craft Printing.

Lastly, it's always amazing to reflect on a show through photographs, from the "before" to the "after." Here are a few that illustrate just how far our cast, crew, directors, and technical staff can come in a few fast-paced weeks:

When this day is done, more than 3,000 students from school districts across Southeast Kansas and Southwest Missouri will have seen "Junie B. Jones, The Musical" — in two sold out shows! Thanks to all the teachers, bus drivers, administrators, and parent chaperones who helped make that possible. Exposure to the performing arts has an incredible impact on young minds, and we are proud to play a role in making that happen here in Pittsburg, America!

Introducing: Teresa Jameson
Role: “Mother” & “Mr. Woo”

Wanna hear something pretty cool? In real life, Teresa is a kindergarten teacher! She’s read Junie B. books to her students for many years. At 45, she’s also got 20 years of performing under her belt in local productions like church dramas, vocal contests, and once starred as Becky in Huckleberry Finn (Fort Scott Community College 1990). She also is a certified horseback riding instructor and rodeo cowgirl! It’s challenging, she says, to keep up with the teen performers in our show and balance rehearsal times with family and work, but she’s glad she’s joined PCT, and we are, too! Come see Teresa when the curtain goes up on "Junie B. Jones, The Musical," March 25-26! ‪#‎PCTJunieB‬

Local audiences may recall him from “Singing in the Rain” (SMC 2015), and from “Cheaper By the Dozen” (SMC 2015). Interested in art, acting, and singing, Gabe says he has enjoyed rehearsing for this show because he’s had a chance to explore dancing more intensely.
