Now that we've wrapped "Junie B.," we've completed strike, the exhaustion has worn off, and the adrenaline has waned, we'd like to focus for just a moment and thank the many individuals, businesses, media outlets, and schools that helped make our first production of the year a smashing success. All told, we performed it for more than 4,500 audience members! We couldn't do what we do each season without the financial support of our corporate sponsors. Those include: Memorial Auditorium, Elias Tawil MD FACS, Miller's Professional Imaging and Mpix, The Coleman Family Foundation, Inc, the Family of Jo Swigart, and KOAM-Fox 14. We'd also like to thank our annual individual donors, of which there are many, and those who played a significant role with this show specifically, including: The Morning Sun, The Joplin Globe, Andra Stefanoni, Pittsburg High School, Jenna Spencer, Janice Jewett/Pitt State HPER Department, Pittsburg State University Dance Showcase, Y Academy of Dance, Terri Steele, and Pitt Craft Printing. Lastly, it's always amazing to reflect on a show through photographs, from the "before" to the "after." Here are a few that illustrate just how far our cast, crew, directors, and technical staff can come in a few fast-paced weeks: First dance rehearsalopening nightinitial set build

When this day is done, more than 3,000 students from school districts across Southeast Kansas and Southwest Missouri will have seen "Junie B. Jones, The Musical" — in two sold out shows! Thanks to all the teachers, bus drivers, administrators, and parent chaperones who helped make that possible. Exposure to the performing arts has an incredible impact on young minds, and we are proud to play a role in making that happen here in Pittsburg, America! It's almost time! The curtain goes up on the first show of our 35th season tomorrow for thousands of area students, and on Friday and Saturday for the public! To celebrate, we're sharing a sneak peek at the opening number, "Top Secret Personal Beeswax." Join us with your family at historic Downtown Pittsburg's Memorial Auditorium, 503 N. Pine, to see this all-star cast perform under the direction of award-winning director Greg Shaw. Enjoy!
Introducing: Greg Shaw
Director Greg — or "Shaw," as his students and cast typically call him — has a Master’s degree in Speech and Theatre Education from Pittsburg State University and is the theatre teacher at Pittsburg High School. He serves on the board of Pittsburg Commtunity Theatre, where he has directed and acted in shows. He also has been involved at The Theatre in the Park in Kansas City since 1996, first as an actor in Footloose, The King and I, Big River, and more recently as the director of Godspell, Fame, West Side Story, Grease, Footloose, The Wedding Singer, Aida, and All Shook Up, which won the 2010 Demmi Award for best show. His wife Angie and older daughter, McKenna, also have been active in theatre; it’s possible that one day, younger daughter Marley may be, too. Come see the fruits of Shaw's labors when the curtain goes up on "Junie B. Jones, The Musical," March 25-26! #PCTJunieB Introducing: Mary Jo Harper
Role: Vocal Director Mary Jo — MJ to all of us — teaches 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade music in Fort Scott, as well as private music lessons, and performs with area ensembles including the FUMC Chancel Choir, SEK Symphony Orchestra, Midwest Regional Ballet, PCT, and the American Opera Studio of Kansas City. She has an extensive show resumé that includes such recent shows as “Evita” (PCT 2015) and “My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra” (PCT 2015) .Come hear the fruits of MJ’s labors when the curtain goes up on "Junie B. Jones, The Musical," March 25-26! #PCTJunieB Introducing: John Mazurek
Role: “Daddy” & “Mrs. Gutzman” John, by day an attorney, has been active in PCT for many years and serves on our board of directors. He has been both a show director and an actor, including roles like Oz in “Wizard of Oz” (PCT 2013), Otto Frank in “Yours, Anne” (PCT 2015), and a crooner in “My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra” (PCT 2015). He also frequently joins Midwest Regional Ballet for productions like "The Nutracker." John is part of an active theatrical and dance family, which includes his wife, Diann, and their sons, Jared and Ben. Look for John when the curtain goes up on "Junie B. Jones, The Musical," March 25-26! #PCTJunieB Introducing: Teresa Jameson
Role: “Mother” & “Mr. Woo” Wanna hear something pretty cool? In real life, Teresa is a kindergarten teacher! She’s read Junie B. books to her students for many years. At 45, she’s also got 20 years of performing under her belt in local productions like church dramas, vocal contests, and once starred as Becky in Huckleberry Finn (Fort Scott Community College 1990). She also is a certified horseback riding instructor and rodeo cowgirl! It’s challenging, she says, to keep up with the teen performers in our show and balance rehearsal times with family and work, but she’s glad she’s joined PCT, and we are, too! Come see Teresa when the curtain goes up on "Junie B. Jones, The Musical," March 25-26! #PCTJunieB
