Pittsburg Community Theatre will present “ALL IS CALM, The Christmas Truce of 1914,” a show that recounts the moment in history when Allied and German soldiers laid down their arms to celebrate Christmas, sharing food and drink, playing soccer, singing carols and burying each other’s dead. The show is directed by John Mazurek and M.J. Harper.
Given the era (1914) and the circumstances of the events (war time), this will, in all likelihood, be an all-male cast. The story is told through song (a cappella) and the reading of letters to home.
PCT is looking for 12 to 15 males, ages 16 and older, with strong voices and the willing to learn and perform these beautiful, but challenging, songs. As there are numerous countries represented, dialects will be part of the storytelling.
Auditions will be at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium on Nov.1 and Nov. 2. Check-in will begin at 6:30 p.m. and auditions will start at 7 p.m. Audition packets which include several pieces from the show are available.
Cast will be selected on Nov. 3 and the first reading/sing through will be Nov. 4. Rehearsals will be Sunday night through Thursday night. Show dates are Dec. 17, 18 and 19.
